Environmental Policy

Nautica Salpa is committed to promoting environmental sustainability through a series of initiatives and practices that reduce the environmental impact of its activities. Our environmental policy is based on the principles of corporate social responsibility and the adoption of best practices in the ship manufacturing sector.

  1. Use of low environmental impact technologies in production:
During 2023, we implemented Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) technology to make the fiberglass components of our rigid and inflatable boats. This process, characterized by closed moulds, has allowed a significant reduction in styrene emissions into the atmosphere, with a decrease in 95%. We are currently adopting vacuum infusion technology for the production of our flagship Salpa Soleil 52, further reducing emissions of styrene.
We use low-styrene gelcoats and resins with lower static emissions than traditional VE resins. Our resins and glass fibers are free of endocrine disrupting components, ensuring the safety of our workers and the protection of the environment.
  2. Renewable energy production:
Since 2012, we have installed a photovoltaic system on the roof of the production plant with a power of approximately 200 kW, which has allowed us to produce 2,940,515.40 kWh of electricity until 31 December 2023. This has resulted in a reduction in emissions of CO2 equal to 2,058,360.78 kg.
For 2024, we are expanding our photovoltaic system to increase our renewable energy generation capacity to approximately 500 kW, further contributing to emissions reduction.
  3. Innovation and development of sustainable technologies:
In 2022, we introduced our first hybrid vessel (diesel/electric) in collaboration with the CNR Motors Institute, demonstrating our commitment to more efficient and environmentally friendly propulsion solutions.
For 2024, we are developing innovative designs for full electric outboard rigid and pneumatic boats, integrating on-board home automation and developing solutions based on artificial intelligence.
  4. The Management of Nautica Salpa Srl undertakes to:
Make resources, economic means and adequate skills available for the correct functioning of the Environmental Management System.
Define powers and responsibilities in the environmental field and establish the procedures necessary to ensure effective functioning of the system.
Ensure that activities are carried out in strict compliance with environmental laws and relevant regulations, protecting workers' health and the working environment.
Continuously improve environmental efficiency by evaluating the economic viability of the best available technologies.
Monitor the environmental impacts of activities and products, constantly evaluating opportunities for improving processes to reduce direct and indirect impacts on the environment.
Inform and involve staff in the Environmental Management System, promoting environmental awareness at all levels and providing appropriate support and information to customers and suppliers.
Collaborate with public authorities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and protection of the environment.
Adopt measures to reduce environmental impacts in emergency situations.

Nautica Salpa is committed to continuing to improve its environmental practices, adopting cutting-edge technologies and promoting sustainability in all phases of our production activity. We are aware of our responsibility towards the environment and the community and constantly work to reduce our environmental impact.
